| Can you have a lone gunman and a conspiracy? Yes - because that is exactly what happened in the Lincoln assassination. John Wilkes Booth was the lone assassin but four others including Mary Surratt were executed on Friday, July 7, 1865. Four more were sentenced to life in prison in the Dry Tortugas. |

| Files, James a.k.a. James Sutton with material from Wim Dankbaar and Bob Vernon. |
|
Question: "The real question is why Mr. Perry must try so hard, if it is so obvious that Files is a hoax." Wim Dankbaar, Friday July 29, 2005 Dave's Answer: Over the years, the Files case has been propelled forward by some individuals that have made a substantial investment of both time and money in proving and/or promoting the story. Skilled entrepreneurs want a return on their investment. Historically there have been cases where the investor’s zeal to turn a profit has resulted in less than objective investigative results. If one needs proof they need look no further than the pharmaceutical industry for numerous examples of this sort of abuse. Another case in point is Piltdown Man. In my opinion it is much better that people with even a passing interest have access to all the facts. It is probably healthier that the information they get is unfiltered and in the case at hand not provided by someone who has invested over $200,000 and countless hours in proving the Files’ case is factual. |
